Electric Hobos
Scrap-built characters generated from junk seeds, then drawn out by hand into finished portraits.
Electric Hobos are characters assembled out of what was lying around. Each one begins as a seed — a rough pile of scrap parts, aerials, cabling and salvage — and is then drawn out by hand into a finished portrait with a posture and a mood.
The pairing is the point of the series: every finished character is shown alongside the junk it came from, so you can see the distance between raw material and inhabitant. It is character design in the most literal sense — taking something with no personality and arguing one into it.
